Adventure

It’s been 8 years.

8 years since my dear grandfather passed away.

I was fortunate to have spent majority of my childhood with him in Japan, despite the fact that he suffered from Alzheimer’s disease most of that period.

Bapuji—as I used to call him—was a great man.

He grew up in dire poverty in India but through his relentless entrepreneurial efforts, he made it to Japan in the early 50s.

His success uplifted the entire family out of poverty.

Literally.

Eight siblings (6 brothers and 2 sisters, their wives and husbands, and all their children) + his own wife and their children (including my mother).

He was a strategic guy.

He set up his brothers in different areas around the world (India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Afghanistan, and Dubai) to expand the family trading business.

And then he built Indian restaurants all across Japan, bringing a taste of spice to the Japanese pallet.

He was a builder and a connector.

A big heart with a classy sense of style (he liked wearing bow ties a lot).

I’m proud to be his granddaughter.

He has left behind a grand entrepreneurial lineage for me to continue paving forward.

Yes, I want to be an entrepreneur for many reasons.

But this one, this one is the real reason why.

I want to be an entrepreneur so I can share my grandfather’s spirit with the world.

That spirit of being a great adventurer.

Because what is entrepreneurship without a sense of adventure?

Ad-venture.

Venture.

Do you see it?

So tell me, why do you want to be an entrepreneur?
